The M47 Patton, despite its limited service with the United States, saw great success internationally. Spain acquired several hundred of these vehicles and upgraded them locally to the M47-M standard, referred to as the M47E. A further improvement to this design saw a new fire control system and a rearrangement of the ammo stowage. This vehicle was then standardized in the Spanish army as the M47E1.
The M47E2 was a further development of the design, replacing the 90 mm gun with the 105 mm Rhienmetall Rh-105 gun, which was essentially a German copy of the British L7. This version was also fitted with new passive night vision sights. 45 vehicles were converted to this standard. In 1993, all M47s were retired from service in the Spanish army.
It's worth noting that Spain really doesn't have any indigenous tank designs, outside of three or four low-tier candidates. As such, there's really no hope for them to have a full branch of tanks in World Of Tanks, and with the scrapping of the European tech tree there really isn't much to be done about the few tanks they have available. While those lower tiers might be assimilated into another tech tree, I think the M47E2 would be fine in the United States' tech tree (it's really a pan-American tree at this point). It's a reward tank besides, so there's room for a unique Spanish crew, emblems, and camouflage as well.
