MISSION STATEMENT

This website is to serve as a catalog of historical information for various tanks, across various stages of development, created for use by the United States from Pre-WWII through to the 1970s. However, the primary purpose for this website is to illustrate a proposal for what an "endgame" could look like for the US tech tree in the game, World Of Tanks, and to show that there's still plenty of life left to breathed into this game.

My aim is to see as many tanks in the game about tanks as possible, and I hope to show that in a way that respects both the historicity of the tanks shown and the balance of the game overall. As such, I will not be going into great detail on individual statistics. Rather, I will only be showing the possible modules for each tank, changes that could be made to make it more historically authentic, a historical overview, and how the tank's playstyle may be represented in-game. I will also attempt to future-proof this by including alternate hulls, half-tracks, and wheeled vehicles.

This is certainly not perfect and everything is subject to change. This is still a work in progress, and updates are frequent if not daily. This is a fan project and a labor of love. Do enjoy.

K Tank

While the M60A2 was still undergoing tests and modifications, in late 1968 the MBT-70 project was in full swing. On 29 November, Chrysler proposed an unsolicited alternative to the Army as an improvement to the M60 series. It involved the installation of a brand new turret and weapon system to the M60A1 chassis, dubbed the "K Tank" by Chrysler.

The concept was armed with the 152 mm Gun-Launcher XM150 off the MBT-70. The turret was formed from a single armor plate and was heavily slopped at all angles. It featured a three-round automatic loader and could fit 57 rounds, including up to 22 missiles. The 120 mm hyper-velocity smoothbore Delta gun was also considered for use.

Although the K Tank had considerable merit, all available resources at the time were tied up with other projects. As a result, it garnered no further interest and was soon forgotten about.

I think the K Tank could work fine at Tier X, sans the autoloader. Compared to the M60A2, the K Tank would have improved gun handling and characteristics, especially in regards to its accuracy and muzzle velocity given the longer barrel. This would probably be one of the most accurate derp guns in the game, although its accuracy should still be poor—especially for a Tier X medium tank. It would also have a smaller cupola, so it could actually go hull-down effectively.

While the K Tank would use the MBT-70's gun, it shouldn't get access to that gun's APDS or APFSDS, as those would simply be too broken. The shell layout here should be a standard HE/HEP/HEAT for such gun-launchers. While I can't find the values for the turret armor, I would assume they would be somewhat similar to that of the M60 or the M60A1. That Gunner's sight on the right side of the turret looks exceptionally vulnerable...
